Praktikum für Master Studenten

Objectives:

6 months internship targeting on development of understanding the possibility to simulate effects of thermal and pressure stresses on casing/cement/reservoir/cap-rock during cyclic injection of CO2 using GEM simulator from CMG. It is essential to develop a workflow and numerical model to reproduce results of lab experiments performed by TUBAF. Based on performance, the internship can be extended into Master Thesis.

Tasks and deliverables:

  • Get good understanding of GEM functionality in coupled fluid flow – geochemistry – geomechanics.
  • Build conceptual model to represent casing/cement/reservoir/cap-rock interaction under different PT injection conditions based on laboratory experiments.
  • Support development of an approach for upscaling lab results to  field-scale

Requirements:

  • Know-how on numerical reservoir and geomechanical modelling
  • Know-how on fluid and rock mechanics
  • Basic know-how on working with CMG GEM or any other product from CMG family is a plus
